WaterMarkTool: Image Protection Tool

We all know that an image can become viral on the net in just a few minutes. If you’re uploading an image online, and want to take credit or protect your image from being claimed by others, watermarking is the fastest way to do it.

WaterMarkTool is a simple web app built for the sole purpose of watermarking and image. Just upload your image, place the text you want to appear on your image, choose a text and box color and that’s it. Since WaterMarkTool is not an image host, you need to download your generated image and get it hosted somewhere else.

The app is a useful tool but it like most web apps, and being a free service and all, it doesn’t come without limitations. The max upload limit is just 100KB. It only accepts Jpeg and Gif files, no PNG. If your images came directly from your camera then there’s no need for PNG files anyway. If your image came from Photoshop, then most probably you can watermark it right there and save you the time and effort of going to WaterMarkTool just to place your watermark. If you still want to use the tool to get a repeating watermark effect, just make sure that you don’t save your image in PNG format.

Watermarking an image is not just a gesture that you don’t want others to use your image elsewhere. It is sometimes used by other site owners to generate traffic to their sites by using their URL as the watermark. This is most effective when an image goes viral

  1. @Lyndi: You’re welcome. I just have to remind you that the size limit is rather small. I hope they can increase it just a bit though. Nothing too big like HDR size. Just enough to post larger images.

@Experiments in Cyberspace: Yeah. We can’t argue with a free service but the images being thrown around the internet nowadays are normally larger than that. I just hope that they can up the KB just a bit.

  2. I found a free online image watermark tool called Batch Watermarker that can automate the whole process of image watermarking. If you are away from your PC and don’t want to download any software, you can just use this online version of watermarking tool for free. It’s quick and it’s easy to use.

You can also download their full version of Batch Watermark software program if you want to watermark multiple image files in a folder with just a click of the mouse.
