How to Easily Turn your Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Starter Edition into Windows 7 Ultimate by Using a Small Patcher

August 19th, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

This short tutorial will allow you to enable Aero Glass and all other Personalization features in Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Starter Edition and not actually transform your Starter and Home Basic edition to Ultimate.

If you own a netbook or any Windows 7 powered machine with Windows 7 Home Basic or Windows 7 Starter installed, then you know that there are quite a number of things that you can’t do with your operating system when it comes to customization/personalization. The Starter and Home Basic editions don’t have Aero Glass, Aero Snap, Flip 3D and other features. What pisses off most users who use the versions mentioned is that you don’t have the power to change the freaking wallpaper. Well, netbook users rejoice! There’s a way to enable the customization features in Windows 7 Home Basic and Starter Edition with just a click of a mouse button.

You can enable or activate the personalization feature of your Home Basic and Windows Starter by downloading a nifty little patcher called Personalization Panel. The small patcher automatically patches system files to enable all Windows Ultimate features.

Simply run the Personalization Panel exe file and reboot your system. Once your system starts again, you’ll have your personalization features activated just like in Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. Just to remember to save all your work before running the patcher, for it will automatically reboot your system without asking your first.

How to Uninstall Applications that doesn’t want to Uninstall in Windows 7

August 17th, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

Have you ever come across a Windows application that doesn’t want to uninstall itself on your machine? If you haven’t, then there’s always a first time. So, how do we deal with applications or software that doesn’t want to get rid of itself and want to stay on your Windows install, for like, forever? Or how do we deal with applications that still leave traces of themselves on your Windows registry? The answer to that is pretty simple. Just download and install (or use the Portable version) the Revo Uninstaller. It works on works on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7.

The Revo Uninstaller is a Windows utility that allows you to uninstall applications. It is an awesome alternative to the resident uninstaller on your Windows machine. Why is it better? Revo Uninstaller will force the shit out of programs that doesn’t want to uninstall itself. Plus, it will remove all traces of the program/software/application on your registry.

Another great thing about using Revo Uninstaller is that it lets you skip the process that some most applications put you through when uninstalling. Some applications will ask you to complete a survey form before it allows you to uninstall it. Some will redirect you to their website and ask you to fill out surveys and ask you tons of questions regarding their software.

Bottom line is that by using a third party uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller is very convenient. It will save you time and will clean all the crap that applications leave behind when uninstalled.

Download Revo Uninstaller here.

How To Copy and Move Files Faster on Windows 7

April 22nd, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

There’s no actual tweak for this one. In order to make Windows 7 (also Vista and XP) copy files faster, all you need is this lightweight software called TeraCopy. It’s a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed while providing the user with extra features to boot.

What makes TeraCopy worth the download?

• Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives.

• Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.

• Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skip the file, not terminating the entire transfer.

• Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files.

• Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual.

• Full Unicode support.

• Windows 7 x64 support.

• Free

Microsoft: Windows 7 Still In Planning Stage

January 29th, 2008 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

I just want to make a short update regarding the rumored early release of Windows 7 OS from Microsoft. WinVistaClub contacted Microsoft and asked them about the Windows 7 issue. It seemed that we will not be seeing Windows 7 anytime soon.  Here is a portion of WinVistaClub’s interview with Microsoft clarifying the issue:

Q. What is the expected timeline for the availability of Windows 7?

A. We are currently in the planning stages for Windows 7 and expect it will take approximately 3 years to develop. The specific release date will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for release.

I guess we’ll all be stuck with Vista (or XP) for another few years. Microsoft better come up with a Service Pack that will fix problems and not cause more.

Leaked Video of Windows 7 Ultimate or Modified Windows Vista?

January 26th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Technology

windows-logo.jpgWe all know about the news that Windows 7 will be coming out on the second half of next year. It is also said that an early version of the OS has been shipped to “key partners” as a Milestone 1 code drop for validation purposes. This video shows the next-gen Windows OS in action. The authenticity of this video is not confirmed. It could just be a modified Windows Vista for all I know. If this OS is really a modified Vista, the person who made this did a really good job of tweaking the OS and a poor job making the video. Or, did he tweak the video to make it look like its running faster? Real or not, you decide.

Windows 7 To Be Released Early?

January 19th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Technology

windows-logo.jpgMicrosoft’s Windows 7 (previously code-named Blackcomb Vienna) is said to be released in the second half of 2009 rather than in 2010. TG Daily said that an early version of the said OS has been shipped to “key partners” as a M1 (Milestone 1) code drop for validation purposes. Among the new features seen in the early M1 release are combining multiple graphics cards from different vendors into one graphics system, and a new version of Media Center.

There are very few pieces of information about Windows 7 and the features it will bring available at this time. So far, we have heard only about new touchscreen features as well as – and probably most interesting – MinWin, a much smaller kernel of the operating system that takes up only 40 MB of memory.

This reminds me of the ME to XP turnaround when people refused to upgrade to ME from Windows 2000 until XP came out. Maybe Microsoft finally realized that Vista is not going to last like XP did, for them to schedule an early release. A lot of people still don’t see any reason for upgrading to vista especially with the XP SP3 getting good reviews.  Personally, I don’t really care if they release a new OS ahead of time as long as it is better and with fewer errors.
