Emotify: Share Discover the Web With Feelings

February 11th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

Emotify is a new content aggregator that allows you to share and discover web content. Unlike most news and content portals, Emotify lets you classify the content that you want to share by categorizing them by mood. It will tell the users how they should feel upon reading/viewing the shared content.

A user can simply choose a mood and get related content based on the chosen emotion. You’ll be able to discover new content delivered with feelings everyday on Emotify. You can select from Funny, Shocking, Inspiring, Sad, Amazing, Upsetting, Disgusting and Frightening content depending on your mood.

Submitting content on Emotify is very easy. You can collect content found on your favorite site and tag them based on how it makes you feel. You can use the bookmarklet or submit your content through the website. Like in most social voting sites, other users get to vote on your submission and let it gain popularity across the network.

This is a new way of sharing and distributing content on the web. Instead of categorizing content like what the popular content providers are doing, you get read and view content through emotion-charged packages.

The Good and the Baad

February 25th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Cool Sites

Most social voting sites have rating scripts to judge if a post or topic deserves to be read. There are sites that feature only the up vote button, some uses stars to balance the ratings and there are those that only allow two sided votes. The classic 1 and 0, yes or no, thumbs up, thumbs down, black and white good or bad.

goodbaadGoodBaad is one of those social voting sites where everything is black and white. Well, the site itself looks black and white but with shades of grey. I guess it’s only for design purposes. Good Baad aims to be the definitive record of public opinion. They hope to present the statistics that interest you in the most simple, uncluttered manner. Yes people, it’s just black and white for these guys, strong opinions about certain topics that interest its users.

We hope these stats will act as a useful basis for blog posts, articles and debates. When using this site as a source please link back to us – the more users we have the more useful the information becomes. We plan to add widgets to make adding our features to your sites and social networks easier.

Those of you who are up for debates about a certain topic, you can consider Good Baad as a place to ignite the fire leading to more interesting discussions.

Scour: The Social Search Engine that Pays Users

July 14th, 2008 | 9 Comments | Posted in Technology

Scour is many things. It’s a search engine aggregator which displays search results from different and popular search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. It’s also a social networking site where users are allowed to rate give comments to the search results. Think of it as a Digg style search engine. Lastly, Scour is also a web service that rewards its users for using the service.

The search engine’s interface is clean and easy to on the eyes. Of course, the ranking in search results are very much different from the search engines that it aggregates search results from. However, Scour gives you the power to sort the search results by search engine. If you want search results from Google to appear first, then just click the Google icon above the search results. This is also true for Yahoo and MSN respectively. If I am not mistaken, the Scour ranking will be based on user recommendations. The search results ranked previously by users will be displayed first if you choose to sort by Scour rankings.

When you look at the search results, you will see a small icon from each respective search engine. Along with those icons, you will see a number which is the rank of that URL in that particular search engine. Like most search engines, you can also filter search results by images and videos.

Scour offers rewards to its users. Every time you make a search using Scour, your points increases by 1. This is also true every time you vote on a search result and make a comment. Those points can be redeemed in the form of a Visa Gift Card.

Scour Points Value
25,000 = $100
12,500 = $50
6,500 = $25

This means that you need to do more than 200 searches a day in order to earn 25$ in one month. That’s a lot of searches to make in a day. Or, you can invite friends to join in and you will get 25 percent of what they make.

Putting aside the money making scheme, Scour is still a very promising web service which I won’t mind using even without the rewards.

iliketotallyloveit.com

June 9th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Cool Sites

I like totally found a “Clueless” sounding social rating site similar to Digg but geared towards products that users find innovative, exceptionally beautiful, or just weird. The topics discussed include accessories, art and design, entertainment, fashion, food, furniture, gadgets, personal care, toys and some other offbeat topics that users might find interesting.

Aside from having a totally funny name, the site and service is actually quite interesting and useful. Included with every item is a link to an online shop where it can be purchased. A snapshot image of the item is also provided along with the price. Iliketotallyloveit.com is a great site to visit if you are up for some online window shopping. It’s also pretty useful if for someone looking for a particular item but still undecided which brand to buy.

Like most social voting sites, the first page displays the most popular items/products rated by the users. Other users are of course allowed to rate, comment and discuss their point of views about a particular product they love or hate. Users are also allowed to search the site by using a price range. This will allow people to “budget” their product searches in iliketotallyloveit.com . Totally worth a try.
