August 15th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

bliipaSocial media sites have been producing a large part of the content on the internet. The only problem is that most content produced by social media sites do not appear on search engines. It’s either that or search engines like Google and Yahoo are having a hard time keeping up with the updates made by popular social media sites.

Blippa is a search solution that combines traditional search from search and real-time social search. Instead of mixing the search results from a search engine with results from social media sites, the application prefers to display them side by side. On the left side of the results page, you’ll see the results from different social media sites and social networking sites. The middle part of the page displays the traditional search results.

The search engine is powered by Yahoo for the traditional search. The real time social search results are powered by Boss, Twitter, Technorati, FriendFeed, YouTube and Digg. There are quite a number of alternative search engines that you can test and check out. Blippa is one of those search engines who believes that they can make search a better experience for everyone by combining social search, which is the trend nowadays, with traditional search.
