BloggyBits: Your Social Activity on your Blog’s Sidebar

August 13th, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in Blog Tips

bloggybitsBloggyBits is a blog widget generator that allows you to showcase your social networking activities on your blog’s sidebar. It combines all your social activity at a number of sites and lets you present them in your blog. Users will be able to browse the different updates you made in different social networking sites which are neatly displayed in tabs. It doesn’t require registration and the generation of a widget is very quick and easy.

Creating your widget is a snap and will only take you a few minutes to accomplish. Just choose which social networking site you want to stream on your blog by ticking the box near the logo of each social site. The next step is to place a tab title and add the usernames for each respective site and the RSS URL for the custom feed. You can configure your social feed box by rearranging in any order you like. If you like to be able to edit the widget on a later time, just hand them out you email address and they will send you a unique edit URL.

BloggyBits currently supports Twitter, Digg, Flickr, Delicious, StumbleUpon and a custom RSS feed. Hopefully more sites such as Facebook, Mixx, and others will be added in the list of supported social media sites. This is a great alternative for showcasing your online social updates on your blogs and letting your readers know which sites you are most active in. It will give your visitors a better web experience every time they visit your site.

GeekChart: Share Your Social Media Activity Through a Pie Chart

May 27th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

geekchartGeekChart is a tool that you can use to share your online activity through a pie chart. It surveys your social network activities. The service currently supports the most popular social media sites out there. You can display your activity survey on Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, you blog, Digg, Stumleupon, Delicious, and Last.Fm (Facebook is coming soon). If you don’t see your favorite social networking site on the list, you can make a suggestion for the inclusion.

Creating the chart is very easy. Just enter your social networks’ usernames and you can instantly create your chart. The chart will display the last 30 days of your activity on the social websites that you have entered. It may not immediately provide you with an accurate computation because some of the sites only provide very recent usage, but once your data accumulates, you can expect to view a more accurate reflection of your activity.

GeekChart can be used to share your social network activity with friends. You can embed it on your blog to give them an idea on what site you are most active in. You can also use the chart to monitor your own social media usage. You can find out if you are spending too much time on a particular service. If you feel that you’re giving way too much contribution to a particular site, you can immediately track your statistics and become more active on others.
