ShortText: A Dead Simple Online Posting Tool

January 28th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

short-text-logoWhenever you want something to be posted online, it is a requirement to have your own website, join a social networking site or register for free blog services. However, there are quite a few services out there that let you post your content with minimum fuss and ShortText is one of them. It’s a simple tool to post text online which does not require you to register or sign in. It’s an on demand web presence for your information.

The service will create a ShortText URL for your content. The URL will remain active for as long as someone visits it at least once a year. You can make a post private by placing your own password key or by generating a random one. You are also allowed to link to images and videos by simply ticking a check box. You may allow comments and use rich text (the codes are similar to the ones used in forum sites). With a maximum of 30000 allowed characters, I’m sure that it’s quite hard for you to run out of text space for your content.

ShortText is a simple service that can be used by anybody who wants to publish content anonymously. Since it is not a requirement to register, it makes it very convenient for such publishers.

*They also have a Firefox extension which makes it easy for you to publish text found online by highlighting the text and creating a ShortText URL.

Doink: Draw Animate Share

December 10th, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

Doink is a place where you can make drawings online and create animation out of them. It can be like one of those paper animations with stick figures or a really cool animation of whatever you can think of. Doink is about having fun and exploring your creativity. Whether you just want to draw or create an animation out of those drawings.

The editor is very easy to use and will not require any expertise like Photoshop. Just click a button to test and see what it does. Once you get comfortable using it, you’ll have no problem at all making your first drawing. That first drawing is the first step for you in creating an animation. Just add another frame and you’re off. I find editing with frames very easy. Once you create a new frame, it will appear in such a way, that as if you’re like placing a translucent paper on top of your previous frame. It’s pretty much like how animators work which is very cool. This way, you can trace the drawing on the previous frame so you can easily make the next action of your animation.

Another cool feature of Doink is the collaboration feature. Aside from sharing your work with other members, you can also use their community art search tool to find drawings or animations made by others. You can then grab those creations and use them in yours.

Doink is a fun way to draw, create avatars and funny animations. The best part is that you get to create your own and share them with others.

PrintWhatYouLike Lets you Choose What to Print

September 22nd, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

We all know that printing a webpage is very easy to accomplish. But what if you like to print a portion of that page and omit the unnecessary elements that you don’t need? Sometimes, you will only need the text and some images and not the ads that are included in the webpage. There is a simple online tool which helps you to do just that.

PrintWhatYouLike simply does that for you. Whenever you need to print a webpage, you can format it right on your browser and not use/open a document editor. To use PrintWhatYouLike, just head over to their site and place the URL of the webpage you wish to edit and print. Take away the parts that you don’t need. You can do the selection by simply clicking on the part. Clicking on the selected part will unselect the item. In PrintWhatYouLike, the modified page will only be printed and nothing more.

This is a great webapp which works faster than copying the whole webpage and editing it in Word. You’ll be able to save time, ink and paper by removing images and pieces of the website that are irrelevant to you.
