Summify Filters your Entire Online News Subscription into 5 Articles

April 7th, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Cool Sites, Technology

Having a hard time keeping up with online news? If you are subscribed to numerous online news sites, blogs, facebook pages and twitter accounts… you know what mean. It now takes a lot of time browsing pages after pages of content just to find something that is “news” to you.

Summify is an online news reader that filters the content that you are subscribed to and deliver the top five stories to your email. This way you can lighten the browsing and just wait for the top news of the day in your email.

Do not mistake Summify for something that will deliver the top five or top ten news of the day from the entire web to you. Summify’s top picks will depend on your subscriptions. There’s a chance that you’ll miss a good read if you’re not subscribed to the website that delivered it.

You can add your Twitter, Facebook and Google Reader to Summify and it will choose which stories are most important. The more accounts you add, the better the selection process gets. You can choose the amount of articles you want emailed to you and the frequency of the delivery. If you only have time for 5 or 10 articles per day or want your news only once a week, you can easily edit them in your summary settings. You also have the power to set the time Summify will deliver the news to your email.

This is great for people who want the best news from their subscriptions and particularly useful to people who only have a limited amount of time for news articles.

Summify is a “social news reader” that helps you consume your river of news in minutes, rather than hours.

Emotify: Share Discover the Web With Feelings

February 11th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

Emotify is a new content aggregator that allows you to share and discover web content. Unlike most news and content portals, Emotify lets you classify the content that you want to share by categorizing them by mood. It will tell the users how they should feel upon reading/viewing the shared content.

A user can simply choose a mood and get related content based on the chosen emotion. You’ll be able to discover new content delivered with feelings everyday on Emotify. You can select from Funny, Shocking, Inspiring, Sad, Amazing, Upsetting, Disgusting and Frightening content depending on your mood.

Submitting content on Emotify is very easy. You can collect content found on your favorite site and tag them based on how it makes you feel. You can use the bookmarklet or submit your content through the website. Like in most social voting sites, other users get to vote on your submission and let it gain popularity across the network.

This is a new way of sharing and distributing content on the web. Instead of categorizing content like what the popular content providers are doing, you get read and view content through emotion-charged packages.

Rocketron: Hear the News from your Phone

November 10th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Technology

Rocketron (a service mark of Asyncast Corporation) is a startup focused on bringing the latest news to you anytime, anywhere. You can use any phone to listen to news that you personally choose. You can also leave comments about stories and listen to other people’s comments. To hear the news through Rocketron, all you need to do is dial 408-907-2323.

What makes Rocketron interesting is its voice command feature. You can skip a news that you don’t want to listen to by just saying the phrase “next article,” repeat an article by saying the word “repeat” and go straight to what you care about by speaking the category of the news you want to hear (e.g. : sports news). Rocketron eliminates repetitive stories and gathers over 40 thousand stories from popular news names like NY Times, Washington Post and a lot more.

Each time you skip an article you don’t want or switch to a different subject, Rocketron learns something new. Over time, Rocketron automatically gets better at picking articles that it knows you want to listen to, all without complex programming. This is a great feature in addition to eliminating repetitive stories which wastes time and money.

While web registration is not entirely necessary, you can still sign-up for an account in their web service where you can do further customization on the news you want to hear and set your account to receive SMS messages. You can place keywords for news articles you want to hear and eliminate.

Rocketron is a very interesting service and great for people who are always on the go. The news delivery is entirely free. However, it will cost you a phone call to Silicon Valley.

Mixx Launches Mixx Communities

June 26th, 2008 | 5 Comments | Posted in Technology

Social media news aggregator Mixx recently launched “Mixx Communities.” It’s a Mixx extension where users can create a niche community site under the wings of Mixx. Members can contribute to the community by submitting their stories like they would normally on the larger Mixx community.

The created Mixx Community will be given its own subdomain. Community administrators can create their own niche topic tabs. This will enable content filtering for a smaller niche community. They are also allowed to customize the look and feel of the community site that they created. Administrators can personally brand their community site and insert their own logo, edit color schemes and post editorial content. They are also given the option to monetize their site by placing an Adsense unit (Shared revenues).

This is a great step for Mixx, offering its members to create their own niche social media community and earn a buck in the process. It’s like a BlogSpot for social media. Any member of Mixx can set up his/her own community. The setup process is quite easy that even a non techie person can create and customize a community in just a few minutes. Gathering members for the community is always the hardest part. Administrators can invite their Mixx friends to join in their newly created community and they can also send invitations by email.

With Reddit going opensource and Mixx making this community offering to its users, it would be interesting to know what Digg will come up with.

NewsClipper offers more than just giving its users the ability to easily browse through different news clips directly from their pages, instead of navigating through different news sites. The service also offers the ability to embed the latest news videos so you can share them instantly to your friends via blogs and social sites without having to wait for it to appear in YouTube and other video sites or linking them to the source of the clip. This is made possible by NewsClipper through the use of an open-source video player called Flowplayer which also features full screen viewing.

The service also provides a link to the source of the video just in case you are looking for related news about the video. This is a useful resource and a very interesting service that will save you time in browsing and viewing news clips from the internet.
