Ximmy Pays You To Digg

January 18th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

Few weeks ago I wrote about Shareapic and pointed out how newcomer sites are becoming more aggressive in marketing their internet real estate. These sites are ready to pay people for using their services. The newcomer that I am about to introduce to you is no different, only the payment strategy is what makes it interesting.

Ximmy is a social voting site much similar to Digg. The only difference between the two is that Ximmy is willing to pay its users for submitting a story and for leaving a comment. Here is how it works:

We are the first company to reward you for your contributions to our community through points that you can redeem for cash. Just register for an account. (It’s free!) You will earn points for submitting stories and posting comments. When your story is published to the home page, you will receive 15 points. Once you hit a points bracket, you can redeem the points for cash at any time. Payments are made via PayPal.

Points Earn:
1 point – Story Submitted
1 point – Comment
15 points – Popular (homepage)

Points Rewards
1,000 $10
1,800 $20
3,200 $40
6,000 $80
12,000 $160
20,000 $300

The real question here is will Ximmy steal the hearts of Digg and Reddit users? I think that Ximmy (and other sites like this that will follow its footsteps) will get a fair market share in the internet biz. If this becomes successful, will the giants like Digg and Reddit follow the trend? As I have said before, if this kind of marketing strategy continues, there will be a lot of happy users earning a little cash while enjoying a free service.

shareapic.jpgHere is another way for you to make money online. Shareapic is another FREE image hosting website where you can upload unlimited pictures with no file size restrictions, get an embed code and display it in any site you like. So, if are posting lots of pics in forums, MySpace or eBay, you can see how easy it is to earn quite a bit of money.

Shareapic payments are based on image views depending on their calculations of how much they will pay users per thousand views on a monthly basis. You can also place your Adsense pub account and Earn extra money from Google ads on your gallery pages. A widget is available that you can use to promote your Shareapic gallery. You can place it your blog sites or in your social networking site profile. This move will attract more users thus attracting more advertising opportunities. Several sites have made this marketing move in order to get more market shares from giant competitors. If this type of marketing strategy continues to grow, there will be a lot of happy users making extra buck just for using a free service.
