Image Exchange: An Alternative Image Host and Photo Sharing Service

November 3rd, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

image exchangeImage Exchange provides an alternative service for those who are looking for an image hosting site or photo sharing service. You can use the service in uploading small to medium sized images (up to 2MB in size). It’s a quick and easy way of sharing images without having to register for an account.

In order to share your image(s) through Image Exchange, simply upload your photo or image, enter some tags and provide a deletion code. Once you hit the upload button, you will be prompted to provide them with your email address. This is an entirely optional option that allows them to automatically email you the deletion code for your image.

Images will be stored in Image Exchange for a maximum of 12 months of non-access. This means that if your image(s) has not been viewed for a year, it will automatically be removed from their server.

Entering your email address is entirely optional. We only use it to send you your image address and deletion code. Once these have been sent, your email address is removed from our systems entirely. This is a fully automated process, so none of the staff at Image Exchange will ever be able to see it either.

Pict: Image Hosting in a Click

March 4th, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

Pict is one of those online image hosts that do not require you to sign up or create an account. It’s there for you to use anonymously and freely. Upon landing on the Pict homepage, you can immediately upload images from your computer. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Once you have made your first upload, Pict will give you a unique URL for your album. To share the images that you uploaded, just hover to the thumbnail of the image and click the share button. You will be provided with share codes for blogs, forums and a direct link for the image.

Pict uses cookies to remember the images that you have uploaded. As long as you do not delete cookies from your browser, the previous images that you have uploaded in Pict will not disappear from the home page. If your cookies are set to expire at some point, be sure to bookmark the album URL that was provided to you during your first upload session. This will allow you to get back to your previous uploads, but will not allow you to add more images on that particular album.

Pict also has a Firefox add-on that allows you to make screenshots with one click and automatically upload them to Pict.com. The plugin also allows you to right-click and upload any image you see online. You can also share screenshots using the tool in a snap.

Here is the list of features of the Pict.com Firefox Plugin that you can download here.

• Make screenshots of websites
• Make screenshots of whole website
• Make screenshots of custom selected area
• Save screenshots in jpg/png formats

Fumpr Image Host: No Registration Required

July 22nd, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

Need an image hosted right away? Try Fumpr. It’s a simple image hosting site which offers nothing more than its description. It hosts images fast with no strings attached. No registration is required. Just upload an image and you will instantly get the embed code, image URL, download link and forum code.

I don’t really see Fumpr to be of much use for hosting images that are posted on blogs and websites. You will have to remember the URL of your image in case you want to get back to it and use it again for another post. If by any chance that you did not get to save the URL or embed code, you’ll have to upload another one. The lack of registration also takes away management options for your hosted images.

This is very useful for quickly sharing temporary images online. Temporary meaning the ones that you do not really want to keep around like a screen shot of an error message that you are trying to fix. You can get instant embed code and forum codes. Fumpr is very useful in forum conversations to quickly post an image online. If you want to quickly share an image from your harddrive, just go to Fumpr, upload and share. That’s it, no more logging in to your Flickr and uploading a photo or image to share it. This is also a great alternative if you want to share images or screen shots which you do not wish to include in your photo collection in Photobucket or Flickr account.
