Little Great Ideas: “___” Will “___” You

August 7th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Cool Sites

will youWillYou is a site that promotes creative thinking. It lets you share your ideas by filling in the blanks in “___” will ”___” you. It’s up to you to say something creative or interesting that other people might find useful or inspirational.

As more people visit this site and leave messages, it becomes harder and harder to think of messages that have not already been entered. Some users respond by entering garbage. Although some of them might make you laugh or smile, the challenge here now is to think of something better and new to say rather than blasting the site with nonsense. Well, some nonsense might mean something to someone so if you think that your idea will make a world of difference, then fire away. Either way, it’s fun and brings out a little creativity in you while providing inspiration or humor to others.

Each comment is flashed on your screen. You can sit back and enjoy the ideas shared by other people or you can head over to the history page to see what others have shared in the form of a list. You can also mark the ones that you think are junk so that they’ll no longer appear on WillYou. Although it is not really your responsibility to tag objectionable comments as junk, it might help the site to become a better provider of meaningful ideas. The author of the site also makes his own attempt to remove non-sensical and pointless messages to keep the overall content interesting for the users. If you are willing to lend a helping hand, just tick the box of the comment if you think it’s junk to keep them from appearing again from the site.

ShareYourBrain: Share Ideas

October 2nd, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

It’s always interesting to read or hear about other people’s ideas. It’s even more interesting if you can share your own and become a part in building ideas that will help others. There is a place online called ShareYourBrain where you can do the things that I’ve mentioned above.

In ShareYourBrain, you can read about ideas created by others and see what other people have contributed to those ideas. You can also announce a project that you are doing using the social network and get suggestions from other people. Members are also allowed to vote on ideas shared by other members.

Idea Points are rewarded to users for adding new ideas and for collaborating on what others have started. Those points can be exchanged for cash or other reward items. This is a great way of keeping things flowing for users. It’s a great place to learn and hear what others have to say and share your own thoughts about pretty much anything. If you have something to share, then head out to ShareYourBrain and start warming up those neurons.

Share Your World Changing Ideas with Google

September 30th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Technology

Do you have a great idea that can help the world? Try sharing it through Google’s Project 10 to the 100th and get it funded. It’s Google’s way of calling for your ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.

Our goal is to set as few rules as possible. However, we ask that you put your idea into one of the following categories and consider the evaluation criteria below.

Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?
Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?
Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don’t fit into any category at all.

Criteria
Reach: How many people would this idea affect?
Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?
Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?
Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?
Longevity: How long will the idea’s impact last?

The giant company will be committing $10 Million Dollars to implement the projects. Up to five ideas will be chosen by the advisory board. You can also recommend an organization that you think can implement your world changing idea.

The deadline for submission will be on the 20th of October, 2008. One hundred chosen ideas will be announced on January 27, 2009 in which the public will be allowed to choose 20 semi-finalists. The advisory board will then choose the final five ideas which will receive funding for implementation.

No matter how big or small your idea is, if you believe that it can help a lot of people and change their world, share it.

Helping helps everybody, helper and helped alike.
