iPad2 Hack: Bypass iPad2’s Security Code Using the Smart Cover

October 22nd, 2011 | 3 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

The iPad2’s smart cover just got a little smarter. The guys from 9to5mac discovered a security flaw in the iPad2. You can actually bypass the security code on any iPad2 by using the smart cover. All you need to do is activate the off screen (home + standby on/off) of the iPad2 without actually sliding to turn it off. The next step is to place the smart cover on the iPad, close it and flip it open and click cancel and you’re in.

The bypass procedure doesn’t actually let you fully use the unlocked iPad2. It’ll allow you to browse through the apps but not actually open them. The real security threat here is when you’ve left a sensitive application open when you locked your iPad2. If your iPad got unlocked this way and you’ve left your email, contact list, notes and other apps that the perpetrator could use against you, then you should be worried.

So, until apple updates this security flaw, the best measure that you can take is to not leave an app open when you lock your iPad2.

Angry Birds for Chrome Unlock all Levels Hack

May 12th, 2011 | 3 Comments | Posted in Games, Tips N Tricks

This was expected but I didn’t think that it would be this fast. The recently released Angry Birds for Google Chrome has already been hacked. The hack will enable you to unlock all levels and play the special Chrome levels.

Here’s what you should do:

Simply copy and paste the codes below into your address bar in your Chrome browser and open Angry Birds. If it didn’t work the first time, paste the code again with your Angry Birds open and it will reload automatically. That should do the trick.

Unlock Code:

javascript: var i = 0; while (i<=69) { localStorage.setItem(‘level_star_’+i,’3′); i++; } window.location.reload();

Now, to lock all levels again simply copy the codes below, paste it on your Chrome Browser address bar and open Angry Birds.

Lock Code:

javascript: var i = 0; while (i<=69) { localStorage.setItem(‘level_star_’+i,’-1′); i++; } window.location.reload();

If you don’t want to play the boring levels that you think you’ve played countless times in your mobile phone/tablet, you can use this hack and unlock the Chrome level.

A Simple Hack to Make the iPad 2 Smart Cover Fit the Original iPad

March 22nd, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

If you’re not quite ready for the iPad 2 yet but really adore the new Smart Cover for the iPad 2, then you might want to watch this video showing a simple hack to make the Smart Cover work for your original iPad.

The hack works quite well for the original iPad. The downside is that you have to glue a few magnets to your iPad. If you watch the video, you’ll see that the latch mechanism fits the original iPad quite well. Just remember that placing the Smart Cover will not make your iPad go to sleep/wake up. It only works on the iPad2. But still, if you want the smart cover for your original iPad and won’t mind the few magnets glued on the side, then hack away.

Watch YouTube in HD using a URL hack or Greasemonkey

March 7th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

You Tube announced last year (November) that they started to test higher quality videos. There are now a few samples of videos in YouTube that are uploaded and can be seen in a higher resolution. The regular version of YouTube videos have a 320×240 resolution and can be seen now with an upgrade of 448×336. The audio encoding is also said to have improved from the normal 22050Hz to 44100Hz.

To watch the videos in a higher resolution, all you have to do is add &fmt=6 to the end of the video URL (so the URL will have to look like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnVJZkDuVBM&fmt=6 ). You will notice a slight improvement in the resolution. This upgrade doesn’t come without a price. The improvement in resolution will result to a slower download due to an increase in the size of the re-encoded video. To get a much higher resolution of 480×360, just add &fmt=18 at the end or the YouTube video URL. By doing this, there is a chance of getting an MP4-encoded version which also comes in a larger size. This trick does not work on all videos. It has been reported that newer videos can only be viewed in high resolution.

grasemonkey.jpgIf ever you don’t want to go to all the trouble of placing the code on every video you visit in order to view it in improved resolution, there is another way of doing this with the use of Greasemonkey Firefox extension. If you do not have Greasemonkey installed in your Firefox, you can download it here. Then, install the YouTube HD script than can be found here. By doing this, you can view all the YouTube videos that have higher resolution automatically. However, if you feel that it is slowing down your streaming or the videos stopped loading, you can always disable the script in Greasemonkey by pressing right click on the monkey head at the bottom of your Firefox browser and unchecking the YouTube HD tag.

Note: In order for all of this to work, you need to have the latest version of Flash Player installed in your system.

Update: Another trick that you can use in searching HD YouTube videos using the Google search engine. All you need to do is type in your keyword search and add the following parameters to your search query.

site:youtube.com “watch in normal quality watch in high quality”

Update: You can now view You Tube videos in 720p HD (widescreen) Just add the the code &fmt=22 at the end of the URL of any You Tube video uploaded with 720p quality. This will give You Tube users a whole new experience in veiwing videos. To embed videos in 720p, just add the following codes at the end of the URL on the embed code  &ap=%2526fmt%3D22.You can edit the width on the embed code to make it look widescreen on your site.

Check out the sample code below:

<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/tKySv27kT_A&hl=en&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt%3D22“></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/tKySv27kT_A&hl=en&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt%3D22” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed></object>

Note: Embedding You Tube videos in 720p will slow down the loading of the video but it’s worth it. Expecially when viewed full screen. Embed the sample code above and see for your yourself.
