FFScheduler: Schedule Your FriendFeed Posts

August 14th, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in Tips N Tricks

ffschedulerWith FriendFeed now under the wings of Facebook, there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll see more third party apps developing for the one stop social networking update site. This is good news for FriendFeed which has been overpowered by Twitter in terms of growth. If more developers will continue to support the service, it will no doubt become a better alternative for most to the popular Twitter service.

FFScheduler is an app that allows you to schedule your posts on FriendFeed. It functions pretty much like the number of Twitter apps that does exactly the same thing. To schedule your posts and make them appear as if you are live and online.

To use the app, just head over to their site and login to your FriendFeed account through the service. Allow access to FfScheduler to begin scheduling your posts. Just place the title of the post, link and your first comment. You can also add multiple photo URLs and Audio (mp3) URLs on your scheduled posts. The last step is to set the date and time you want your scheduled post(s) to appear on your FriendFeed page.

Give Your Facebook Page The Glare Effect Using the Konami Code

May 12th, 2009 | 4 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

This is a Facebook Easter egg that I’ve just recently discovered. I don’t know for how long has this been active on Facebook. You might already have heard about it or know how to do it but I’m just going to share it with you anyway.

The Konami Code or Konami command is a cheat code that appears on many Konami games. I remember using the code whenever I play Contra (Nintendo Entertainment System) back in the days. So here’s how the cheat goes. Just press Up-Up-Down-Down- Left- Right- Left- Right- B- A and you’re all set. Now, Facebook seemed to have implemented this cheat code. Actually, it’s more of a special effect code rather than a cheat code. What happens when you press the buttons mentioned on your keyboard is you get a glaring effect on your Facebook page whenever you click your mouse. It’s not really something that will enhance user experience while using Facebook, some might even consider it an annoyance but it’s still fun and good to know that such thing exists. Go try it out on your Facebook page. On your keyboard, press Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-b-a-enter.

LOLApps: Create FaceBook Apps

April 25th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

lolappsLOLApps is a maker of Facebook tools that allows you to create a Facebook application without writing a single code for the app. It’s like a wizard for Facebook apps.

Currently, LOLApps has two products for you to choose from.

Quiz Creator lets you create simple personality quizzes. You know those quizzes that people hate and love on Facebook.

The tool lets you create quizzes to let people figure out which character they are in their favorite movie or TV show, what’s their best quality and basically anything you can think of.

Gift Creator lets you create sets of virtual gifts for your friends to display on their Facebook profiles. You create gifts for any occasion that you can think of.

LOLApps made Facebook app creation very accessible to everyone. Their two main products might not please everybody but if you enjoy quizzes and virtual gifts, this is the tool for you. I am particularly interested on what they’ll come up with next.

Wired’s Celebrity Meter Measures Your Internet Popularity

July 31st, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Tips N Tricks

I just found this interesting widget from Wired that measures your popularity in the internet. All you have to do is enter your MySpace URL, Twitter URL and your personal website of blog. So how does this widget work? It crawls to your personal pages and scores your internet fame based on websites linking to your blog/website, your friends on your social networks and pages linking to your photos.

If you ask me, it sounds like their ranking algorithm is somewhat similar to how Google ranks a page, which is by counting the number of links to a certain page. The Celebrity Meter is still in beta phase. As you can see, the only social networking site available in it is MySpace. This means that if you more friends in Facebook, you’ll probably get a much lower score than MySpace users. You can expect to see more social networking sites added to Celebrity Meter in the near future.

You can embed Celebrity Meter to your blogs or website to give your readers a bit of fun by checking their internet popularity right on your site. Users can also measure their popularity by comparing scores with internet celebs linked on the widget or from a custom list created by the owner of the site. Check out the widget below.
