Adobe Photoshop Express Goes Public

March 27th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

photoshop-express.jpgAdobe just released its online (and stripped down) version of Photoshop called Photoshop Express. From what I can see, it is online photo storage, photo sharing and online photo editing all rolled up into one. The service makes it possible to edit the uploaded photos and images online. You can upload of to 2 gigabytes of photos in one account. Being branded as a stripped down version of the desktop software, Photoshop Express mainly focuses in the mainstream market rather than professionals.

The service has seventeen editing tools for you to choose from. This includes some basic tools which include Crop and Rotate, Auto Correct, Exposure, Red-Eye Removal, Touchup, and saturation. Tuning features and Effects features are also made available. You’ll notice the absence of drawing tools in the service. This only makes it clear that the tuned down online version of Photoshop is only built for light editing. Layers are also missing which is an important feature of the Desktop software, but they have added an interesting feature to combat the absence of the layer tool. Every time you add an effect or use a tool, a checkbox appears on the side toolbar showing that you have added that certain effect to your photo. You can toggle the checkbox if you want to remove and add that particular effect in your photo which makes it easier to see the changes that you have made.

Photoshop Express is easy to use and it is free so you can sign up anytime. Aside from uploading a photo from your hard drive, you can also get your photos directly from your Facebook, Photobucket and Picassa accounts. This will make it easier for users to migrate to Photoshop Express without going to the trouble of downloading and uploading photos from another service to another. It would also be nice to see a Flickr, Smugmug, and other online photo hosting services integrate with Photoshop Express. Embed and slideshow tools are also available in the online service which supports its function as an image hosting/sharing service.

Quintura Keyword Cloud Search Widget For Your Blogs

March 2nd, 2008 | Comments Off | Posted in Blog Tips

Quintura just released a really cool widget that makes it easier to search your website or blogs. The widget comes with the assistance of a keyword cloud that will display tags within the website of your choice.

If you own a blog/website you can sign up for the free service and make a submission of your URL and/or RSS feed to Quintura. Your site and RSS feed will be indexed and you can start creating and customizing your widget. This will enable users to do a more effective search in your websites/blogs through the use of tags plus the search bar. The widget also comes with the embed feature so that other site owners can embed your tag cloud in their own sites.

The widget/service is quite new and still has room for improvement when it comes to effectively searching and displaying keywords in the cloud. Nonetheless, this is a neat feature that you can add to your sites to give your users easier access to old posts. I have provided a sample of the widget below.

Create Your Online Signature with My Live Signature

February 27th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

mylivesignature.jpgI see a lot of blogs and social pages sporting an image of their signature below every post. My Live Signature makes it easy for you to create your online signature by using a scanned image or using their creation wizard. If you are going to use the creation wizard, a few simple steps are only needed to create your signature. The firs step is just to enter your name then you can choose a suitable font that will match your taste. The next steps will include choices for sizes, colors and slope. Then you’re all done.

After creating your online signature, you can choose from two ways of using them. You can generate a code for your handwritten signature or you can generate a combined code of your information with the handwritten signature over it. You can embed the generated codes to emails, websites, blogs and social sites. Check out the sample below.

The service also offers the ability to embed the latest news videos so you can share them instantly to your friends via blogs and social sites without having to wait for it to appear in YouTube and other video sites or linking them to the source of the clip. This is made possible by NewsClipper through the use of an open-source video player called Flowplayer which also features full screen viewing.

The service also provides a link to the source of the video just in case you are looking for related news about the video. This is a useful resource and a very interesting service that will save you time in browsing and viewing news clips from the internet.

SeeqPod: Media Search Engine Tips

February 11th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites, Tips N Tricks

seeqpod.jpgSeeqpod is a search engine for playable media that can be found in the web. Just search for the music or artist and like what any respectable search engine will do, it will return search results but only for music and videos. This service is not entirely new but there are some features of Seeqpod worth mentioning that can be quite useful to you. Aside from the search feature, the discovery button lets you listen to the most recently discovered music Seeqpod has found on the Web. The site does not transcode the songs that it streams. You will hear it in its original form as scraped from MP3 blogs, personal Webpages and anywhere in the internet that hosts mp3′s. You can also embed the songs that you found to your blogs or social pages or download them using freemusiczilla.

Another cool feature of this site is that it auto detects IPhone and iPod Touch. Whenever you browse SeeqPod using your iPhone or iPod touch, it will display an IPhone/iPod Touch friendly environment. You can use this feature to browse the internet’s music just like as you would the music on an iPod. For this trick simply choose a letter, then an artist then a list of songs by that artist appears that are playable right then and there.

Another trick that you can do to make it possible to listen to music found on SeeqPod without having to open a browser first is to go to the SeeqPod page first using your phone’s browser, then click the plus sign which is found on the middle of the browser bar. The bookmark menu should appear. Touch Add to your home screen which will add the icon of SeeqPod to the home screen.
