Youblisher Makes PDF Documents Flippable

February 16th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

Youblisher is an online attempt to visually reproduce the experience of reading a book or a magazine in real life. Although it is not as close as reproducing the physical aspect of actually holding a real book, the result it gives is surprisingly astounding.

The service allows you to upload a PDF document or grab one online by providing a URL. All you need is an account and you can immediately experience reading an online document, Youblisher style. The visual reproduction of actually flipping through the pages of a magazine or a book is very remarkable. You’ll be able to flip pages back and forth as if you are reading an actual book with sounds to match.

Reading an actual book – the flipping of the pages with your fingers and holding its spine as you read is impossible to mimic online. What Youblisher has done is give us a better alternative in reading documents, books and magazines online.

CompareMyDocs: Compare, Recombine and Merge Document Versions

November 11th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology, Tips N Tricks

compare my docsCompareMyDocs is an online document editor that allows you to compare different types of documents in a single page. You can use the tool to load several documents, compare, make revisions and merge them without worrying about messing-up the originals. Once the documents are uploaded, it will leave your originals in-tact and unharmed. You’ll be able to produce and save an entirely new document once the editing is finished.

You can load .doc, .docx and .rtf files on CompareMyDocs and merge them into a single document. This can be particularly useful in comparing several documents side-by-side to produce better text content. You can easily trash, hide or accept portions of each document. You can also make minor formatting using the tool.

CompareMyDocs outputs .doc files only. This will enable you to open the files using any document editor (old and new). You won’t have to worry about opening unsupported docx files especially if you haven’t installed the converter from Microsoft.

This is a great way of merging several documents together while comparing and editing text content to produce an entirely new document. The beta version works best on text only documents. This simply means that documents that contain tables and images are not entirely supported.

Convert Any Media Online

March 13th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

mediaconvert.pngMedia Convert is an online application that converts media formats from audio files, video, presentation, documents, spreadsheets, images and even archives.  You do not need to install and find a software or application (most are equipped with spyware and adware if you get them for free) for your system just to convert as specific type of media. Eee PC users might find this site very useful because of the limited storage capacity of the notebook.

The service is one hundred percent free, but comes with a file size limit of 150 MB. I know that it is not enough to convert your HD movie into avi but it does the trick for smaller video files and more importantly mp3′s to aac or wma. They even convert ring tones for cell phones.

MediaConvert can also be a handy tool for inter platform users of document editors. It will easily make your Open Office documents be readable by Microsoft Office. This is great if you are attaching documents through email to people who are not using your application. The service also have the ability to convert PDF to SWF Flash file for easy insertion to websites, export Microsoft Access to Excel Table, capture a website as an image and my personal favorite, convert  text into morse code.
