CutMyPic: Easily Crop Images and Give them Round Corners and Drop Shadow

December 1st, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Design

cut my pic logoCutMyPic is an online tool that you can use to easily cut pics and images. The tool was conceived by a team of Tokyo based programmers that wanted more of the internet than ad filled pages and buried tools that makes it even harder for you to find what you’re looking for.

The tool is very simple and easy to use. Just upload a photo or an image that you want to crop. You’ll get the sizing information when the upload is done and you can simply drag the selection tool on top of your image to select which part you want to leave behind.

CutMyPic also lets you add a little something to your image. You can chop off the sides of your image and give it rounded corners. You can choose the level of roundness you want your image corner to have. Another plus is that you can place a drop shadow effect on your image. Simply adjust the darkness level of the drop shadow effect by dragging on it. Preview your image and save it or email it to your friends when you’re done.

This is a great alternative if you don’t want to open a CPU hungry desktop image editing software. You can use this nifty tool to cut and add a drop shadow effect to your blog images. You can also use it in making your avatar image/photo a little more, well, “rounded.” If you don’t want rounded corners, it can function as a quick cropping tool and a drop shadow effect tool.

ResizeImage: Resize Images Online

January 14th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

resize-image-logoResizeImage is another dead simple web app that, as you might already figured out, resizes images for you. There are several apps online that you can use to crop or resize your images, but this is by far the easiest and fastest to use.

You only need to drag the photo to fit the size that you desire if you use the advanced resize. The easy resizing tool is very user friendly and visually helpful. You can see the image resize in real time as you click the size that you might want. The app also displays the dimensions of your current image. This is very helpful if you are resizing an image to use on blogs and websites. The advanced resize will allow you to break the image’s proportion when resizing and create a custom size for your image. You have to keep in mind though that breaking the proportion of the image is not advisable for it destroys the quality.

ResizeImage is a simple tool that works great. No login necessary. Just upload your image and get it resized within seconds. There is also a cropping tool that you can use to crop first before resizing. Oh and ResizeImage can also be used as a temporary image host. Uploaded images are hosted on the server for one week. Feel free to link to your image during this period.

Slice and Crop Your Photos Online

September 24th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

PicSlice is a place online where you can slice and crop your photos. The webapp is useful if you want to adjust your photos depending on your needs and if you do not have a decent photo editor available on a computer that you are using. You can either upload from your computer or use a link from your online photo/image host.

Saving the image is very easy. You can choose from two ways to save your sliced image. Clicking a slice will download it. So all you have to do is click all the slices to complete your image. Or, you can download the zip file which contains all the sliced images.

Slicing photos is great for displaying large photos on a single page. It will speed up the loading time of the entire image. It also protects your images in some ways. Bandwidth thieves will have a harder time stealing your images and your bandwidth.

PicSlice is pretty much a very basic web tool that you can use when the need arises. If you are looking for a place online where to crop and slice your images, try PicSlice. It’s fast and free (I just wish they’d change the background color).
