A Minimalist Business Card Design that Works

August 24th, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Design

Designing a business card is very tricky. You need to focus on both aesthetics and function. You’d want it to give enough information about your business while maintaining an elegant and professional design on a limited amount of space.

Take a look at this very interesting minimalist business card that Boris created. It contains basic web information about him- his email, website and twitter account. The card was designed to occupy the least space possible while providing important contact details.

This type of design is great for someone whose business is on the internet. Someone who doesn’t really need to give away a phone number in order to sell his/her business to the recipient of the card.

If you want it to be less minimalist, you could probably redesign it to contain colored icons instead of text.

Create Your Personal Online Business Card

September 9th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

With so many social networking sites out there, it’s hard to keep track of your own links to your profiles, blogs and websites. Organizing social profiles by creating a list will help. You won’t have to login to your social networking site in order to get your profile link.

MeeID is an online business card which will help you organize your profile links, blogs and websites. You can place ebay profiles and place links to your blogs and social networking sites using MeeID. It’s a simple tool with simple features. It will provide you with your own MeeID URL (e.g : www.meeid.com/yourname) which you can share with your friends. This way you only send one URL to a person instead of sending multiple links which will look kind of spammy. The design is simple and it lets you upload your own profile photo to your MeeID business card.

It would be great though if they can provide users buttons to link to their blogs and other social sites. It will make MeeID links more visible and users will have an easier time pasting/linking the MeeID on the web. If you are looking for a simple online business card, MeeID is worth checking out.

Online Business Card Maker from DeGraeve

April 10th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Cool Sites

Here is a cool site where you can make a simple business card with a logo and your information. The DeGraeve Business Card Maker tool is very easy to use. Just get a link of your logo image and place it in the “URL of Logo image” text box. A size of 300 to 600 pixels in height and width is recommended for the logo for it no to look crappy and images larger than the said size will break the business card maker. It is also noted that the logo maker works best with images on a white background, but this is not necessarily a rule. After choosing the logo, select a font for the text that will appear in your business card, enter your name or company name and your information on the text box supplied, then choose which font style you want for a specific line.

The Business card maker will give you a PDF file of the generated business card for you to download. You can then print your cards on letter sized paper and then cut them by trimming .25 inch from the edge of each side of the printout and then cut the cards to 3.5 in x 2 in. You’ll get 12 cards to a page.

This is a useful web app for people who want a quick, simple and easy to make a business card without the use of desktop software. The service is free and online. I have provided a sample of the generated business card below.
