Android: Use Any Browser to Send and Receive (SMS) Text Messages

August 16th, 2011 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

BrowserTexting is an Andriod app that will enable you to send and receive text messages (SMS) on your browser. This app will work on any Android Phone with version 2.2 or higher. You’ll be able to send and receive messages through your current mobile number via your Android Phone.

How it works:

Simply download the BrowserTexting Android app and go to the BrowserTexting website. After installing the app on your phone, connect your browser and Android mobile. You can scan the QR code found on BrowserTexting to connect your phone with the current browser that you are using. Your phone will be paired with your browser until you close your browser. You can send text messages for as long as your browser is paired with your phone.

If you don’t want to constantly pair your phone with your browser, you’re going to have to use a Chrome Browser and a BrowserTexting Chrome Extension. If you’re default (favorite) browser is Chrome, then you’ll have less trouble with the BrowserTexting app. You’ll also be able to get popup alerts every time someone sends you a text message (SMS).

Delivery status (also on group SMS)

Bulk send progress bar (keeps track of how many messages sent)

July 4th, 2011 | 1 Comment | Posted in Tips N Tricks

Do you browse a lot at work? Do you use multiple browsers to browse at work? Sometimes, it can be tedious to clear your browsing history when you have to do it after office hours. It can also be a drag trying to teach a not so tech savvy office buddy how to clear his browsing history, especially if you’re both browsing NSFW and sensitive stuff that can be used against you.

Well, here’s a tool that you can use and hand out to your work buddies that will help your get rid of those unwanted browsing history and sensitive data. The application is called Browser Cleaner. It’s a handy utility designed to securely delete all traces of your online and offline activity and free up space on your hard drive by removing thousands of unnecessary files. Browser Cleaner erases history of visited websites, clears browser temporary files and eliminates all other records of your Internet activity.

When you delete data or even format a drive, there is always a chance to recover deleted files using system recovery software. Both methods basically only remove the information the hard drive needs to find the data, not the data itself. Your personal banking data, deleted emails, private documents and photos can be recovered easily and used against you. Browser Cleaner wipes free space on the selected drive, ensuring complete data destruction, while leaving existing files intact. The utility comes in a portable version so you can use it without installing it to your system.

There may be times that you need to resize your browser to properly view a website. If you wish to do so without having to change the screen resolution of your desktop, there’s an easy way to do that by using a particular web application. Browize is an online app where you can resize your browser without changing screen resolutions.

To use the tool, all you need is to click on the resolution that you want. Your browser will automatically be resized in an instant. There’s no need for an account or login in order to use Browize. The tools are ready for you to access once you land on Browize’s home page. To reset things back to normal, simply click the reset button and things will go back the way it was. You can also input a custom width and height if you wish to. Just place the values of your desired width and height.

This can be pretty useful to designers who wish to view a website in different sizes. There’s no need for you to install a plugin or add-on. Some browsers have plugins or addons which offer similar function, but when away from your own computer of office and need to test, Browize can offer an accurate solution

Flock: Browser Integration with Social Media

May 28th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

flockFlock is a browser made especially for social media sites and users. If you are a social media geek, then you will most probably find Flock very exciting to use. It has a lot of features integrated into it that enhances your social media experience. If you’re using plugins and third party applications to keep track of your favorite social networking site, social news site, email and others, you can use Flock to easily maneuver them all on the sidebar.

Flock pulls all of your favorite people, places and content together in a convenient view and delivers a more personal experience of the web, where its users are more easily connected to what’s important to them.

The browser is built on Mozilla Firefox’s technology that’s why Firefox users will get a familiar feeling when using it. It also supports most Firefox plugins. There’s not much difference in the browsing experience compared to Firefox, except for the real time tracking of your favorite social networking site on the sidebar and a few visual tweaks. It is what makes the browser a must try for social media users.

Opera X Alpha – Looking Great

December 22nd, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Technology

opera-logoOpera just released an alpha version of Opera 10. According to the developers, the browser loads web pages 30 percent faster than the previous version. Opera X is equipped with Presto 2.2, the newest rendering engine for the browser. It is said to provide significant improvements in speed, performance and security.

The newest version will also provide an inline spell-check feature. This omits the need to install spell check plugins for spell correction purposes. Opera X also features automatic update. I have been using Opera for quite some time and every time there is an update, it’s quite annoying to get to download the newest release and install it all over again only to be asked if you want to install it separately or update your current browser.

Another interesting new feature of Opera X will give web developers/designers a new perspective in their designs. The Opera Presto 2.2 engine allows you to use Web Fonts and SVG font files on your Web pages. Now, your texts won’t have to look so plain all the time. Normally there are very few fonts that web developers can use for website designs. Once can use a unique font, but the problem is that no one really knows how it will load/look on other machines. If the user does not have that font installed on his/her machine, chances are that it will load the default font that the browser uses. The current work around for this is to use static images for Typographic font styles which slow down page loading and isn’t too “edit” friendly.

Other new features:

E-mail your way

Depending on your personality or mood, use full HTML formatting or just plain text in your e-mails. Either way Opera Mail has your back.

Opacity through RGBA and HSLA

Transparency is the new black. In Opera Presto 2.2 it is easier to make page elements transparent, with the addition of an alpha transparency argument to the RGB and HSL color models.

Opera Presto 2.1 already includes support for the CSS 3 opacity property, which allows you to easily set transparency on an element-for example div { opacity: .7; }.
Opera Dragonfly evolved

Opera Dragonfly is now even better for debugging Web sites, allowing you to edit the DOM and inspect HTTP headers.

Watch out for the Beta release for additional features of Opera X.
