Write4net: Publish Articles Without a Blog or Website Using Twitter

June 3rd, 2009 | 2 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

write4netWrite4net is a blogging tool that lets you publish full articles using just your Twitter account. If you don’t have a website or doesn’t want to register for a free blog account but want to make a publication about something you wanted to say online, you can do so without going to the trouble of creating a blog through the service. You’ll need to have a Twitter account, of course, in order to use Write4net.

Want to write an article and never publish again? Want to write regularly? Twitter’s 140 characters are not enough? If you have anything to say, here’s your place.

There is no login or signing up needed in order to use the service. As I’ve mentioned above, you only need a Twitter account. All you need to do is just write whatever you want to publish on their homepage fields (text and title) and hit the publish button. You will then be redirected to your Twitter account. Write4net will not ask for your Twitter password, you will be asked to login through Twitter itself. Your articles will then be Tweeted and published in a blog like manner containing your Twitter avatar, the usual date and time of publication, a ShareThis button,  publisher’s name and your content. It also has a mini view counter to track how many people have read your article. There’s also a mini retweet button so that others can republish the articles on Twitter and a counter that shows how many times the article have been retweeted.

Write4net is a great service for Twitter users who wants to make a publication from time to time. It’s also a useful tool for sharing other content such as images and videos on Twitter even if you don’t own a blog site. Users can write whatever they want to say without the limitation of Twitter’s 140 characters and Blog owners can publish articles here that are outside of their blog niches through Write4net.

CMF Ads: A Credit Based Advertising Network that Rocks

January 30th, 2009 | 4 Comments | Posted in Blog Tips, Cool Sites

cmf-ads-logo

CMF Ads is a credit based advertising network slash social networking site started by three bloggers namely Turnip from Turnip of Power: Social Networking, Stan of Razzball (Fantasy Baseball) and Ben of Top Ten Blog Tips. They aim to provide a low cost advertising for bloggers while helping them sort out blogging problems.

The concept is very simple. Place the CMF ad widget on your blog and others will advertise. The widget features an ad sharing system which rotates adverts each time it is loaded. This is done to keep the ad costs down. For example, if a blog has a daily traffic of 5000 and five ads are running on the widget, each ad will receive a page impression of 1000 per day. If the ad cost for that site is 10 credits ($2.50) per month, then I must say it’s an awesome deal, even if the publisher accepts a few more ads.

You are allowed to place multiple ad spaces if he/she chooses to, for better ad performance. There is also an option for you to accept ads from non blog sites. You can set the ad price (minimum or 1 credit per month or $ 0.25) and use those credits to advertise on other blogs or sell them back to CMF for half the purchase price.

CMF has a great advertising concept (well, it’s not yet perfect but I have high hopes for the startup). They have very reputable standards, which other networks have been neglecting, in accepting publishers and advertisers. This means spam blogs has NO place in the CMF Network.

Features Breakdown

• Ad space sharing to keep the costs down – a typical ad costs 5 credits, or just $1.25, for 30 days.
• Set your own ad price for each of your sites – it must be at least 1 credit ($0.25).
• Advertising history – view the ads you placed on a site in the past, and how they performed (we display views, unique views and clicks for all ads).
• Publishers earn 100% of the credits for ads placed on their site – these credits can be used to advertise, or the credits can be sold back to us at 50% of the purchase price.
• Every credit in the system is paid for – we don’t artificially create credits based on blog activity – which means our economy is stable.
• If you have multiple sites, you can easily manage them without having to maintain multiple accounts or switch between the sites. Your balance is shared across all of your sites, and you can easily choose which site to advertise with via a drop down.
• Our blogging forums provide a central location for bloggers to exchange tips and get help.

If you’re looking for an advertising network and a great community of bloggers who are more than willing to help in expanding your reach, better check out CMF Ads.

Psolenoid: Blog Reaction Linking Tool

December 8th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Blog Tips

Psolenoid is an interesting new service which aims to help bloggers interconnect with each other by linking a post reaction to another post. It kind of works like the related posts that you see displayed on blogs, the only difference with this particular service is that other bloggers can link their related post to your blog entries.

It’s like making a comment without sounding spammy like- ” hey I also wrote a blog post about this topic here’s the link. ” This can only be made possible if both parties have Psolenoid activated on each other’s blogs. It means that if you make a reaction to a particular post, that post’s link will also show up on your own entry.

We call this process “wiring” and it automatically creates a “rabbit hole” or two-way link for audiences of both blogs to visit the other blog post.

Psolenoid will appear at the bottom of a blog post/entry and will look similar to a comment but in a more enhanced manner. It includes a preview of the wired blog post, a short comment introducing the other site and a user profile image. A Psolenoid link also displays a small thumbnail of the image or video included in the post if any is present.

Important FAQ

How does Psolenoid prevent blog spam?
Psolenoid by design is architected to prevent spammers from wiring posts to your blog. Because it uses pull technology to fetch the content it needs for wires, all content needs to come from an actual blog post. This is uniquely different from push technology used in trackbacks which are often prone to spammer abuse. Additionally, Psolenoid users are centrally managed and spammers will be policed.

You have full control on who links to you. User controls are built into Psolenoid’s intuitive user interface. If you wish to sever a wire between your blog and another blog, simply click on the X over the wire to delete it. You can do this either from your Psolenoid account or from your personal page while you are logged in.

I’m not sure on how Psolenoid will affect blogs or this site in particular but I will be activating it here for testing. If you want to try it out feel free to make a Psolenoid reaction with any of your posts on this entry. Remember, once you activate Psolenoid on your blog, it will be displayed on all of your pages.

OnSugar: Sweet Blogging Platform for the Ladies

October 7th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Blog Tips

OnSugar is a new blogging platform from Sugar Inc, a company focused on creating communities for women. The service is both user -friendly and appealing to the eyes. Equipped with simple but attractive design and easy to use features, OnSugar will certainly catch the casual blogger’s attention, especially the ladies.

What I find interesting about this particular blogging service is that it has a Twitter like “following” feature. You can follow other OnSugar bloggers and get post updates pretty much like in the Twitter community. You can think of OnSugar as Twitter, only bigger.

We’ve made “following” a key part of OnSugar because keeping track of your friends’ posts was how we grew community on TeamSugar.

Aside from their “follow” social tool, OnSugar also has neat blog enhancements like creating magazine-like spreads using the SpreadMaker tool, easy Gallery creator tool and an easy Poll creator tool. Of course there’s the usual text editor, video and audio insertion tools. The editor also allows you to create chat posts where you can insert conversations that are presented on a chat like manner.

If you are looking for a fresh and clean blogging platform, you might want to check out OnSugar. Its community focused features and elegant designs may be just the thing that you’re looking for.

Note: Also check out Posterous, another simple but great blogging platform. Read my full Posterous review.

Cool Customizable Widgets for your Blog

October 1st, 2008 | 9 Comments | Posted in Blog Tips

Wowzio is a widget service that allows you to create different widgets that will suit your blog. You can choose to display a slideshow of your images, feed content, tag cloud and a photo gallery. Creating widgets using Wowzio surely eases things up for both tech and non tech bloggers plus they look really cool.

In order to create a widget, you just need to place the feed or blog URL and you will be halfway done. The widgets are automatically created and will primarily be set to “auto fit.” The user can edit the background,  colors, borders and also customize the size of the widget using their editor. Different forms of editing are allowed for different types of widgets while some are almost fixed with little editing freedom like the panoramic slide show widget.

Since most of the widgets in Wowzio are well designed for blogs which heavily uses images, you can use the service to showcase your Flickr photos in your blogs. Just place in your Flickr URL and there you have it, a widget that will display your photos in gallery, standard slideshow or panoramic slideshow.

If you are looking for a nice widget to enhance your blog or if you got tired of the feedjit livestats (The Live Activity widget looks a lot better), you might want to check out Wowzio.
