Challenge My Brute

April 14th, 2009 | 167 Comments | Posted in Games

mybruteMyBrute is a simple fighting slash role playing game with a little mix of social networking. The game starts like most role playing games where you get choose and customize your character. After creating your character, you’ll need to find someone to fight. Here’s where it gets a bit interesting. During the fight, you are not required to do anything but watch and hope that your character wins. You are allowed to do only a few fights per day and each time your character levels up, you’ll get a new weapon or pet depending on the character you chose.

create-my-brute-characterWhat’s interesting about the game is the element of surprise. You’ll never know what kind of scenario is going to be played during the fight. You can choose to fight a character with weaker stats but the outcome could be affected by the weapon(s) that the other character wields. Items and weapons will be given to you as your character’s level improves. Your character’s fight will be played for you which can be frustrating at times but its selling point of the game.

The social networking side of MyBrute allows you to recruit members and get some experience points. You can also join a clan if you want to. I’m just not sure of what are the incentives in joining a clan. Creating a character in MyBrute does not require you to sign up. Once your character name is validated (never been used) you can immediately start playing. This however, prevents you from joining clans and your character is open and can be played by others. If you want to be the only one to play you character, simply add a password and get access to other features of the game.

If you’re up for a bit of fun on your break, check it out and challenge MyBrute.

Closr: Create a Zoomable Image Widget

April 13th, 2009 | 2 Comments | Posted in Tips N Tricks

closrClosr is an image tool that you can use to share your images on slightly tight web pages and allow viewers to get a closer look at them. The tool is simple enough to use and embed on your favorite social networking sites and blogs.

Register for a Closr account and you can immediately start uploading your photo and create your first widget. You can only upload one photo per widget. If you’re thinking that this is a gallery type widget, then you are mistaken. The widget is only good for sharing one image but it’s great for sharing large images on small sized pages. I just have one comment on the image quality being reduced when viewed on the Closr widget. It’s something they need to work out during the beta phase. Aside from that, it looks great and could be useful when sharing large images.

Here’s the original image:

People throw around thousands of images on Twitter every day. Here are some tools that you can use for your Twitter image sharing needs.

TwitPic

This is probably the most popular image sharing tools that people on Twitter are using. You can post pictures to TwitPic from your phone and they will automatically be posted on Twitter.

TwitPickr

This is actually a TwitPic tool. It allows you to upload your TwitPic images to Flicker. If you like posting images to Twitter using TwitPic, this tool will actually help you upload those images to your Flickr account. This way, you won’t have to do the upload twice from your phone or hardrive. It saves you the time it takes to upload the images again on your Flickr account.

PixIM

pixim

Another free service that lets you upload your pictures and share them with your friends and followers on Twitter. With Pixim, you can add privacy to your pictures by selecting the people who can view your images. You can also tag your friends in the pictures that you’ve uploaded. PixIM also lets you track what your friends have been uploading and what they’ve been doing. A simple analytics is also provided to let you know who has visited your picture and how many people in total have seen it.

TweetPhoto

KickLight: Sync Images and Links with Videos

April 10th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Cool Sites, Technology

kicklightKickLight is a new revolutionary online video service. It allows video makers to add synchronized visual elements, called “kicks,” to online videos. People promoting websites through videos will get a “kick” out of this one. Instead of placing URLs on the video you can place images, text and links that appear along with the video.

A “kick,” as I’ve said, is the element that goes with the video. You can place images and links in your “kicks” and it will follow the video wherever it goes or if it gets embedded somewhere else. Kick Light lets you grab videos from YouTube or KickLight. You can create kicks by using their editor that lets you upload up to 10 images per video. You can place text on each kick and add links to them. You can also edit the transitions of your kicks as they appear when the video is played. After uploading your kicks, all you need to do is grab them to the timeline of your video and save.

KickLight is a great way to add information to your videos without adding them to the actual video. This is great for tutorials and it will probably save you some time embedding texts, URLs and images to your videos. You can place them as “kicks” instead. If your viewers feel that the “kick” distracts them, they can always close it whenever they want.

Check out the sample KickLight video below.
