AudioBoo: iPhone Audio Blogging App

April 21st, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Cool Sites

audiobooAudioBoo is an iPhone app that makes it possible to easily post audio blogs, called “boos,” from your iPhone. You can also play the “boos” posted by other members from your iPhone. Of course, there is also a web interface that allows everybody to hear the video blogs.

The web interface of the service gives you a Twitter feeling to it. Users can follow each other’s “boos.” The only thing that’s missing is the ability to reply to a particular audio post which would be very cool if the feature becomes available.

Embed codes are provided so that you can republish your AudioBoo to your blogs and social networking sites. AudioBoo can also automatically post a Facebook message when you publish a Boo. Just tell Facebook to give AudioBoo permission to do so.

This is a new way of publishing audio content online. It’s a great alternative to 140 character long micro blogging. I just wish that they’d make apps for other phones other than the iPhone. This will surely drive users to AudioBoo.

ScreenCastle: Create Screen Cast in One Click

April 17th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Tips N Tricks

screencastle-logoWeb apps are becoming simpler to use which makes tasks like publishing a screen cast faster to accomplish. With ScreenCastle, you can start creating your screen cast in just a click of a button. No need to sign up. Just hit the power button on the ScreenCastle website and you’re off.

In order for the ScreenCastle to work, you must have Java installed on your computer. Once the screen recorder is launched, just hit the record button when you’re ready to begin and, naturally, hit the stop button if you’re finished with your recording. But before that, you have an option to adjust the width and height of the screen cast, if you want to focus on a part of your screen, adjust the window to the part of the screen you want to record. You can also untick the “Record My Microphone” if you’re not going to record your voice. After the recording is finished, grab the embed codes and share. That’s just about it.

I just have to warn you to be careful with what you record using ScreenCastle. Since the service does not require you to login, you are not allowed to delete your recordings. Do not record anything that contains sensitive information about you.

For how long will the screencasts be saved and available?
This time is not limited. Maybe however sometime in the future videos that were watched 0 times for a long time like 1 year could be deleted, to reduce cost.
We will take care that no video that is still in use will be deleted.

Domain Pigeon: Find Available Domain and Twitter Names

April 16th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Technology

domain-pigeon-logoDomain Pigeon is a domain finder service with a twist. Aside from helping you find a good domain name for your new website, it also helps you find out available Twitter name. Twitter names are getting scarcer every day and if you don’t have a Twitter name for your brand, you better get yours now before it’s too late.

Twitter is growing at an enormous rate with an approximation of 33% per month. New accounts are being created every day, not to mention the millions of unique visitors of the site each month. This simply means that a Twitter account is becoming a valuable web real estate. A website or a blog post being retweeted on Twitter can have the same effect as being on the first page of the popular social voting site, Digg.

If you are looking for a good Domain and Twitter name, better give Domain Pigeon a visit before all the good names runs out. You can also use the tool to look for matching available domain and Twitter names. Just one request, only register the ones that you are actually going to use personally, for your brand or website. I know that this won’t stop people from taking the good names just for the heck of it or to sell them, but sure can’t hurt to ask nicely.
