Windows XP SP3 Boosts PC Performance

Windows XP users are in for a treat as SP3 testers confirmed that the latest Windows XP update has proven to give a significant boost in terms of performance. Released last week, the updated version of Windows XP Service Pack 3 is expected to be a bug-fix/patch consolidation release. Most thought that the latest service pack would only strengthen the OS from its previous flaws. But after testing with OfficeBench showed about a 10% performance boost versus the same configuration running under Windows XP SP2. According to Devil Mountain Software’s chief technology officer Craig Barth Windows Vista is now more than two times slower than the most current builds of XP after the same tests were made.... Firefox, the number one contender of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer released its first official Beta Version last Tuesday. Wired tested the Beta release of Firefox 3 and commented that it is not without bugs which is true for any beta release. In contrast to the latter Firefox 3 beta 1 is noticeably snappier. Page loads are quicker, and an almost unnoticeable refresh rate for Ajax-heavy sites like Gmail.
